shot this while waiting for a press conference at the mouth of big cottonwood canyon. utah rivers council was expressing their concern about the blm's recommendation to designate of only a handful of utah waterways as wild and scenic and worth preserving. ironically, this picture is of a metal spillway along cottonwood creek put in place to divert water for culinary use throughout salt lake valley. for the record, according to the government website, Utah is one of only four states currently without a river under this designation. currently.... get it?
